Racism
|
PTclass8C produced a short movie about racism. It's their small contribution, a wake-up call to stop racism which unfortunately still happens in many parts of the world. In History lessons, PTclass6D discussed slavery in Brazil during the 17th and 18th centuries with teacher Carlos Gouveia.

The right to Education
In Poland, October 14th is remembered as a Teacher's Day and an anniversary of the Commission of the National Education. Some of our pupils claim that, they do not like going to school. Therefore, we decided to show them some places in the world where children do not attend to school for different reasons: war, poverty or lack of schools. We had a volunteer to tell and show the school conditions in Africa to our children. Pupils were astonished to discover that being a girl might be a reason not to be sent to school.

"Freedom Day", "Dia da Liberdade" in Portuguese, is celebrated in April 25th. Back in 1974, the military carried out a peaceful revolution during the night to end the dictatorial regime the country were living in for 38 long years! No one died or got hurt. That morning a girl selling carnations on the street decided to thank the military for her freedom by giving one of them a carnation. She put it inside a soldier's machine gun. This became the symbol of the revolution. Portuguese History teachers carried out an event to celebrate this special date. 'Revolutionary' songs and poems were heard and the audience had the chance to see many beautiful dances with the participation of the entire school. The person responsible for this huge event was the History teacher Cândido Lima.
